Our team consists of two very experienced Doctors, four highly skilled, and knowledgeable Animal Health Technologist, and three other support staff, who deeply care for your pet and help make your experience stand out from other Veterinary hospitals.

Our doors remain locked to the public but we are fully operational.

  • On arrival, please call the clinic (780-466-4030) and our staff will arrange to collect your pet from the front door.
  • We ask that you wear a mask during any interactions with our staff including pick-up and drop-off.
  • Unless otherwise advised, please remain on the premises to be ready to collect your pet upon completion of their exam.
  • Following the examination, the veterinarian will contact you by phone and discuss your pet and answer any questions you may have.
  • We are not accepting any cash at this time, payment can be made by e-transfer, or by credit card over the phone.
  • Food and medication orders can be placed via email or phone; food and pet supplies can be placed online for home or in-clinic delivery.

 

 Reception Area & Client Waiting Room

Upon your arrival, we ask that you call us from your vehicle. Our Reception team will be happy to assist you over the phone with your Veterinary needs. Reception will help you with booking appointments, checking in for your appointment, medication refills, food pick-ups and more.

We offer a select range of veterinary diet foods to choose from in clinic.  We also have the capability of ordering a wide range of pet foods that usually arrive within 2-3 days.  You now can order your pet’s food from home, and have it delivered right to your door if you so choose.

Waiting Room

Normally we would have you and your pet check in at our reception desk and wait inside our waiting room until the Doctor is ready to see your pet, but due to Covid-19 we are currently only allowing the animals into the hospital building.   Hopefully we will be able to see our clients inside the clinic in the near future. We miss you!

Canine Exam Room

Fear free handling is performed with all of our patients, to insure the best possible experience at the Vet.  If you have anxious pet, please let us know prior to your appointment so we can ask one of our Veterinarians about the best plan to minimize stress while your dog is here with us.  

Feline Exam Room

We always strive to create a fear free atmosphere for our patients.  In our feline exam rooms we use a feline pheromone diffuser to mimic a calming cat environment. We also preform gentle touch handling to insure our patients feel safe and less stressed while in clinic. We realize the importance of a stress free visit for your beloved feline friends. If your cat is prone to getting stressed when coming to the Vet, please talk to us about preventive stress measures we can do to help make your cats experience more positive with us. These measures can also help make the car ride over less stressful too.

Kennel Area

In hospital we have a wide range of kennel sizes to best suit your pet’s size and needs. Anywhere from cozy kennels for our small dogs and cats, to large dog runs for our biggest canine friends allowing lots of room to move around and rest comfortably. Each pet will receive his or her own private kennel home and is promptly attended to by our staff.  

All of our patients that stay with us will be treated with care and compassion as if they are our own, as well as given cozy blanket in their kennel home for the day. Making sure that if the kennel becomes soiled or dirty, your pets will be cleaned up right away and transferred to a new fresh kennel, with a warm blanket.

Plenty of bathroom breaks will be provided to our canine patients in hospital and our feline patients will be given a litter box, which will be kept fresh throughout the day.  Since our kennels are in the treatment room our staff is able to keep a very close watch on all our patients needs during the day.

Treatment area

Our Doctors, Technicians and support staff are working very hard to assist your pet with the treatments and care needed during your pet’s visit with us. This area is the heart of our practice where most of your pet’s care will be performed.  Treatments range from simple nails trims to prepping your pet for dental and surgical procedures.

Lab Area 

We offer a wide range of extensive in-house lab testing for your pet, providing you with same-day results. We have an in-house hematology and chemistry analyzer that can provide a large range of data. We also have laboratory equipment that allows us to do a variety of manual testing. Our skilled technicians can also assess urine samples, fecal samples, as well as any number of cytologic samples ranging from ear smears to samples from masses. 
We also work closely with an outside laboratory for any testing that cannot be done in-clinic, which also has a rapid turnaround for results. 

 

 

X-Ray Room

Radiographs are a very effective tool to diagnose your pet’s potential medical condition. They may be able to help pin point what is exactly going on with your animal. Typically your pet will be awake for their x-rays and will be held by the technician while your pet lays on the x-rays table. In most cases the x-ray process is very quick, and the image is sent over to the computer instantly for the Doctor’s review.

 

 

Our clinic has digital x-ray technology, which allows us to provide you with results quickly. We are able to x-ray to assess for skeletal injury, soft tissue abnormalities, the heart and lung fields, presence of fluid in the abdomen or chest, and a variety of other conditions. The digital x-ray also allows for ease of sending to referral practices or specialists if additional input or assessment is required.
We can perform non-sedated or sedated x-rays depending on what is best for your pet and their comfort level.

What to expect the day of surgery:
 
We strive to offer gold standard care for all of our surgical patients. We request that your pet arrive at the hospital between 8:00am-8:30am. When you arrive we will go over a questionnaire with some questions relevant to your pet’s surgery, as well as a consent form ensuring that you are fully aware of what will be happening with your pet throughout the day and to answer any questions you may have. 
 
Once your pet is checked in, they will be weighed and a pre-surgical exam will be performed to ensure that they appear to be a good candidate for surgery that day. 
 
We do always recommend that pre-surgical bloodwork be performed prior to any surgical procedure. This can be tailored for what is most appropriate for your pet, but a minimum chemistry panel to assess liver and kidney function is recommended. This is because the majority of drugs utilized during your pet’s anesthetic are filtered and processed by the liver and kidneys, so depending on their level of function, that can change what drug protocol would be chosen for your pet. 
 
At this stage we will place an IV catheter and perform any bloodwork needing to be done. Each pet will have a tailored drug protocol based on their individual needs, and all animals are placed on supportive IV fluids throughout their procedure. 
 
Throughout surgery we provide attentive monitoring to their anesthetic parameters, with oscillometric monitoring devices to measure heart rate, rhythm, ECG, respiration rate, CO2 levels, Sp02 levels, blood pressure and temperature. In addition, there is also a dedicated technician as anesthetist for each procedure to manually monitor values to provide the safest procedure possible for your pet. We also provide supplemental warming devices during and after all procedures. 
 
Once surgery is completed, your pet will also be closely monitored in recovery ensuring they have a smooth wake up and are as comfortable as possible. We generally like to keep your pet in hospital for the majority of the day so that they are carefully monitored in recovery, have the benefit of additional IV fluids and that they are able to walk out to you at the end of the day. 
 
Prior to discharge, we will go over all homecare instructions with you including medication administration instructions, any required follow up visits and general care following surgery. A written copy will also be provided, and this is also a good time for us to answer any questions you may have. We are always happy to hear from you if you have any follow up questions or concerns, and we do our best to touch base with you in the days following surgery to ensure everything is going well. 

 

 

Dental Suite

 

We perform a large number of dental procedures in our clinic, and all of our staff are passionate about dental care. We can provide top-quality cleaning, dental and oral health assessments,  dental radiographs, and dental extractions.

 

What to expect on the day of the dental:
 
We strive to offer gold standard care for all of our dental patients. We request that your pet arrive at the hospital between 8:00am-8:30am. When you arrive we will go over a questionnaire with some questions relevant to your pet’s anesthetic, as well as a consent form ensuring that you are fully aware of what will be happening with your pet throughout the day and to answer any questions you may have.
 
Once your pet is checked-in they will be weighed, and a pre surgical exam will be performed to ensure that they appear to be a good candidate for the dental that day.

Depending on your pets specific needs we can certainly complete more extensive lab work if needed that day as well.

Once your pet is under anesthetic a full oral assessment is performed. We assess each tooth for fractures, probe to assess if there are any pockets below the gum line, assess any wearing to see if there is any root exposure and grade the levels of calculus and gingivitis. Once this initial physical check is done, dental x-rays are performed to assess for bone loss, any root abnormalities, pulp cavity health, or any abscesses. Based on the physical exam and dental x-rays, the veterinarian can make a plan to decide if any extractions are required. At this time the veterinarian will call you to go over the recommended treatment and to make a plan with you, as well as to provide an up-to-date estimate prior to proceeding. 
 
We also provide piezoelectric scaling, hand scaling and polishing, ensuring optimal oral health for your pet. Extractions will be performed if required, with various methods of pain control utilized to ensure a comfortable procedure and recovery for your pet. 
 
Once surgery is completed, your pet will also be closely monitored in recovery ensuring they have a smooth wake up and are as comfortable as possible. We generally like to keep your pet in hospital for the majority of the day so that they are carefully monitored in recovery, have the benefit of additional IV fluids and that they are able to walk out to you at the end of the day.
